Compare · Revit for Mac

Revit on a Mac,
without the workaround.

Revit has never shipped for macOS. Autodesk’s supported route is Windows 11 running inside Parallels, on a Mac with 32 GB of memory and without accelerated graphics. Toras runs in your Mac’s browser instead: the site, the plan, the 3D model and the drawing set, with nothing to install.

01 / Mac

Made for the browser, so it’s at home on a Mac.

Toras runs in your Mac’s browser and draws with your Mac’s own graphics. No virtual machine, no second operating system, no partition to manage, and your projects open the same on any computer.

  • No install
  • No virtual machine
  • Any Mac

02 / Site

Start on the real site, not a blank grid.

Type an address and Toras brings in the terrain, the neighbouring buildings, the roads and the sun path, ready to design against. With Revit on a Mac, that context comes from yet another Windows app.

03 / Document

A drawing set that keeps up with you.

Plans, sections, elevations and door and window schedules sit on sheets and update the moment the design changes. Export PDF sets for the client and DXF or IFC for consultants. Colleagues on Revit get an IFC file they can open.

When Revit in Parallels makes sense

For everything else, a browser tab is the fastest way to design on a Mac.

  • You must deliver native RVT files.
  • Your firm’s templates and families live in Revit.
  • Your Mac has 32 GB of memory or more to spare for Windows.

Every way to run Revit on a Mac

Four routes, and what each one costs you.

  1. 01Supported

    Parallels Desktop

Autodesk’s Revit 2027 requirements list it: Windows 11 in Parallels on any Apple silicon Mac, 32 GB of memory, no accelerated graphics.

  2. 02Intel Macs only

    Boot Camp

Autodesk still mentions it, but Boot Camp does not exist on Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later).

  3. 03Extra hardware

    A Windows PC

Revit runs natively on Windows 11, so some Mac studios keep one PC just for it.

  4. 04No Windows

    Software made for the Mac

Archicad and Vectorworks support Apple silicon Macs. Toras runs in the browser, with nothing to install.

Questions

Is there a Revit for Mac?

No. Autodesk says Revit does not have a native Macintosh version and supports running it in virtual machines such as Parallels Desktop.

Can I use Boot Camp for Revit?

Only on an Intel Mac. Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later) have no Boot Camp, so Parallels is the supported route.

Does Revit LT run on a Mac?

Not natively either. The same Parallels setup applies.

Which architecture software runs on a Mac?

Archicad and Vectorworks support Apple silicon. SketchUp Pro and AutoCAD have Mac versions. Toras runs in the browser on any Mac.
